She teaches Gender &amp; Women\u2019s Studies and Asian American Studies at The University of Illinois, and literally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Gift-Freedom-Refugee-Passages-Directions\/dp\/0822352397\/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8\">wrote the book<\/a> on refugee life in the US.
