{"id":6136,"date":"2017-02-27T22:09:15","date_gmt":"2017-02-27T22:09:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsincerity.us\/?p=1241"},"modified":"2023-05-22T07:49:13","modified_gmt":"2023-05-22T07:49:13","slug":"big-money-texas-opposes-bathroom-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kilde.org\/new-sincerity\/big-money-texas-opposes-bathroom-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Money in Texas Opposes Bathroom Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Texas money management leaders are stepping up to adamantly oppose the \u2018bathroom bill\u2019 \u2013 Senate Bill 6 \u2013 which would prevent trans or gender-queer folks&nbsp;from using the restroom of their chosen gender identity.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c[We] are writing to you out of our strong belief that equality, diversity, and inclusiveness are fundamental elements of a successful workplace, community<span class=\"text_exposed_show\">, and capital markets system,\u201d the letter says.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Collectively, the 40 executives that authored the letter manage more than $11 trillion in assets, so if they\u2019re saying discrimination is bad for business maybe legislators need to think again about Bill 6. That and discrimination is just not ok, ever.<\/p>\n<p>The letter goes on to say that \u201cbills that deliberately limit the human rights of LGBT people are not only unjustified and unfair, but may have troubling financial implications for the business and investment climate in states, including in Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Big ups to Trillium Asset Management, Breckenridge Capital Advisors and all of the organizations behind this effort.
