Theresa Sparks has worn a lot of hats in her life, many of which she fashioned herself. She\u2019s a real do-er, and a do-gooder to boot.<\/p>\n

After coming out as trans in the late 80s, she made trans rights a life priority. She knew, firsthand, the trauma and difficulty of living an existence that much of society either condemned or erased. So she moved to SF and pursued a long string of really influential positions, and kicked butt in all of \u2018em.<\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019s rallying in the Harvey Milk Plaza, vying for better trans representation, rocking it as CEO at sex-positive Good Vibrations, or serving as SF Police Commissioner\u2013\u2013her goal is always inclusivity and trans advocacy.<\/p>\n

In the past couple of years, she\u2019s brought in more than $1.5 million in grants supporting trans health, employment, and education.<\/p>\n

Now, she\u2019s just hopped on as Senior Advisor in trans initiatives for SF\u2019s Mayor Lee where she\u2019ll keep the trans community included all the city\u2019s conversations. Looks like not only the Castro will be rainbow-friendly.<\/p>\n
