There\u2019s a new group offering an old school form of social connection \u2014 no screens required. These aren\u2019t Luddites or anti-tech militias, they\u2019re millennials. And they just want to listen.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re called Urban Confessional: A Free Listening Project<\/a>, and you\u2019ll know them when you see them. They carry simple, handmade signs that promise \u201cFree Listening\u201d.<\/p>\n

“We listen for others … We listen for ourselves.”<\/p>\n

The idea is catching fire. Every day, groups of volunteers across the country set out in their free time to provide something we could all use a little more of \u00ad\u2013 a friendly smile, an open heart and deep, earnest listening.<\/p>\n

There’s a lot of disagreement today. Elections, world events, social progress–it’s seems like it hard to find common ground. But before you try to change someone’s mind, try to hear their heart. Who knows, you may learn something new. Hear their heart, before you change their mind.<\/a><\/p>\n
