And then earlier this Summer, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir happily joined the stage with the San Francisco Gay Men&#8217;s Chorus.\n\nUmm, what&#8217;s going on here?\n\nWhen the Mormon Choir first reached out the Gay Men&#8217;s Chorus thought it was a prank. Why would a church historically known for rejecting the LGBTQ community want to collaborate? Because times are changing and music is the perfect way to bridge communities.\n\n&#8220;I believe music is universal \u2026 so this opportunity is a blessing,&#8221; chorus member Chris Pettallano \u2013 who grew up listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir \u2013 told Deseret News. &#8220;I&#8217;m not surprised that music can bring two different communities together.&#8221;\n\n&nbsp;\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ihL8okVlTmI\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe>\n\n&nbsp;\n\nThe energy in the theater was electric, and Dr. Timothy Seelig \u2013 the artistic director for the Gay Men&#8217;s Chorus \u2013 said that singing together erased all their other differences. He called the afternoon &#8220;a milestone for these two organizations that we did not think would be coming for maybe 10 or 20 years.&#8221;\n\nThis palpable, positive shift among these communities was particularly meaningful moment for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/feature\/nbc-out\/mama-dragons-mormon-mom-group-provides-support-lgbtq-kids-each-n873526\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mormon parents of LGBTQ kids<\/a> and for Gay Men&#8217;s Chorus members who&#8217;d been raised Mormon.
