Most recently, Neilbock has caused a rustle with his turbine project.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5112\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5112\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5112 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/newsincerity.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Screen-Shot-2018-01-16-at-3.23.26-PM-1024x612.png\" alt=\"TBD Magazine\" width=\"640\" height=\"383\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5112\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Up-cycled wind turbines. Photo: TBD Magazine<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The CAN Art Wind Turbine Project marries upcycled art with sustainability. Using salvaged materials and colorful paint, Neilbock and his team created their first low-elevation turbines seven years ago,&nbsp; and they have since been outperforming industry standards and garnering awards.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are using our knowledge of metal to create Detroit\u2019s sustainable future,&#8221; Neilbock says <a href=\"https:\/\/detroitwindmill.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on his site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, the project was awarded a Knights Art Challenge grant, an initiative that promotes community growth through art. As part of the grant, the project must raise $25,000 on its own to bring the project fully to life.<\/p>\n<p>The project&#8217;s goal will be installing two more turbine sites in the city\u2014one that charges handheld devices and another that uses stormwater to irrigate urban crops.
